Handcuffing

Handcuffing is one of the basic competencies of law enforcement and security.  Proper use of handcuffs protects the suspect and the officer from injury.  Handcuffing is taught in the early weeks of the police academy and we often revisit it during our careers, sometimes under the guise of ¨tactical¨ handcuffing when learning to apprehend combative subjects.

We believe that every police or security officer should be skilled in this common task. As with all perishable skills, we have to revisit the basics, a refresher course in ALL the elements of handcuffing is necessary from time to time.

Research in the area of psychomotor skills has shown that officers are able to learn, remember and retain a limited amount of material when it comes to physical techniques.  By focusing on a smaller number of techniques done in a variety of positions we deliver these basic skills in a more effective manner.

Our handcuffing method is designed for officer safety; the faster you can apply the restraints, the safer it is for the subject and the officer.  Take our Handcuffing course and within ten minutes of getting on the mat we will have you handcuffing in under 2 seconds!
